Kris Humphries Selling Kim Kardashian’s Engagement Ring?

Kris Humphries was born on February 6, 1985, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. From 2010 to 2012, Kris played for the Brooklyn Nets (formerly the New Jersey Nets). He now plays for the Boston Celtics. For those not familiar with these teams, they are professional basketball teams.

Kris began dating Kim Kardashian in October of 2010. The engagement came in May of 2011, and Kris and Kim were married on August 20, 2011. The marriage lasted 72 days. After a long legal battle, the divorce was finalized June 3, 2013.

The Engagement Ring

The engagement ring Kris gave to Kim was a Lorraine Schwartz-design, rectangular-cut diamond, which weighed approximately 16.20 carats. Two smaller trapeze-cut diamonds, weighing approximately 1.8 carats each, accented the main attraction. The ring was mounted in platinum.

It’s reported that Kris paid in the neighborhood of 2 million dollars for the ring in 2011.

It seems that Kim returned the ring to Kris sometime in 2012. Kris waited until the divorce was final to put the ring up for auction. The ring was left in the hands of Christie’s Auction House for the sale.

Bidding started at $200k, but with all the publicity surrounding the ring, the bidding quickly escalated well past the $500k mark. As the early participants started to fade, there were four bidders still in the hunt. Two in the room, one online, and one phone bidder. The phone bidder had captured the prize for a respectable price of $749,000.

It’s said that the proceeds from the sale of the ring will go to charity.

What Caused The Break-Up?

Kim seems to be the one who initiated the paperwork for disillusionment. It seems that her intuition was telling her that she’d made a mistake. On the other hand, Kris Humphries had a feeling that fraud was involved and that’s when the battle took place. This was the main reason the divorce took so long to become final. At least the break-up was not caused by the gaming addition of Mobile Legends!

It’s reported that the rights to the wedding and other oddities, orchestrated by Kim’s mother Kris, brought in a whopping 18 million dollars all told.

Kim and Kris Humphries also had a part in a reality show that highlighted the courtship and ultimate marriage, ever so short. Kris did receive a few million dollars for his part in the show, but that’s a drop in the bucket compared to what the Kardashians raked in.

Kim didn’t seem to be to shake up about her decision to split with Kris. She kept a promotional engagement in Australia that same night she announced her decision to divorce her husband, soon to be ex, Kris.

The tabloids were working overtime trying to get to the bottom of the story. Kim and her mom were making the rounds on the media circuit, but they were keeping tight-lipped about the details of what happened. As reporters tried to pry details from the two, mother and daughter kept on point only saying “the marriage was for real.” Of course, Kris Humphries and others had a much different perception of the situation.

In Kim’s defense, shortly after the marriage, Kris was involved in an NBA lockout. This left him with quite a bit of time on his hands while Kim juggled multiple engagements, keeping her busy. During this time it’s reported that Kris was out partying with the boys while his new bride was working. It can’t be said that Kim is not a hustler, and was not saying this a bad sense; she’s a hard worker.

So, could this have caused Kim’s feminine intuition alarm to go off? Kris Humphries was five years younger than Kim.

When it comes to affairs of the heart the truth may never be known. In this case, the story and the tale are old news, but the engagement ring lives on in a new home. Kris selling Kim’s ring is the final chapter in a long divorce and a really short marriage. It was a beautiful ring, it’s too bad Kris had to take such a haircut on the sale price.

In those circles, that’s the price for love – unfortunately, the price of divorce is costing even more.
